Big Cove Christian Academy

Our Teachers

Miss Melissa Boyd, K-2

I am excited to be the Kindergarten through Second Grade teacher here at Big Cove Christian Academy. I earned my BA degree in Elementary Education from Southern Adventist University, with a minor in Outdoor education. I am passionate about getting my students excited about school while reconnecting them with God through nature.

When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, canoeing, kayaking, caving and backpacking. You can often find me with a good book in the branches of a tree, or working with my father on my school ie, a tiny house built into a school bus.

Mrs. Wendy Boyd, Grades 3-5

I am thrilled to teach at Big Cove Christian Academy where we emphasize not only academic excellence but also our students’ relationship with God. When you visit my classroom, you will find strong academics and exceptional education being delivered using a wide variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students. You will see a community of learners who are committed to working together, working hard, and being challenged to do their best. I am committed to inspiring young minds to achieve their God given potential.

I am a passionate educator with extensive experience in the arts, curriculum development, and classroom management. I earned my BS degree in Elementary Education from Elmira University and since then I have earned graduate endorsements in Reading and Literacy, History, and Early Childhood Instruction. I am currently working towards a Master's Degree in Education from Southern Adventist University (2021).

Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, reading, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and traveling.

Mrs. Cas Fristoe, Principal and Grades 6-8

I was raised not going to church and not knowing anything about God. When I was 19, I heard the name of Jesus for the first time and my life has never been the same! I am passionate about missionary work and have served short-term and long-term in the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Kiribati, and Guyana. I am also passionate about young people and have taught preschool-eighth grade. I graduated from Walla Walla University and am working towards a master’s degree from Southern Adventist University. I recently moved to Alabama from Tennessee where I taught grades K-8 in a one-room school for the last 3-years.

I am recently married to a wonderful man and have 2 children ages 10 & 11. I love animals of all kinds, growing plants inside and in the garden, and traveling to new places. I hope to visit Antarctica someday! My favorite activities include paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, swimming, and visiting the beach.
